KARMA AND DHARMA
Karma comes from the root of the Sanskrit word Kr that means doing, acting and assuming the meaning of "action". It refers to the universal law of cause and effect. The law of Karma is similar to the law of Newton's mechanics which establishes that "for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" applied to a different sphere of existence. In other words, Karma is based on the "Law of Balance" and on the belief of reincarnation.
Karma is something personal even if it concerns the community, and for this reason we can talk about individual and collective Karma. Karma allows us to experience earthly experiences: each Soul draws a divine karmic plane, the Soul chooses the planet on which to embody, the place, the community, and the family (including the parents). They choose any type of membership and experience they want to experience in this life, and the experience is recorded in a sort of Soul tape.
The Karmic blocks are experiences we lived from the moment the Source separated from the Source. Until a karmic knot activates a personal talent that is part of the Dharma.
The term Dharma derives from the sanskrit root dhṛ, that is to "provide a basis", "the foundation of reality," "moral obligation," "right".
Astrologically speaking, the path from Karma to Dharma is expressed by the Moon Nodes (the Moon represents the incarnated soul). In the balance between the two Moon Nodes (which are always opposed, e.g. if the Souther Node is in Leo, the North Nord will be in Aquarius) we can accomplish Dharma, and more specifically through the four cardinal angles of a Natal Chart (Ascending and Descending , MC and IC) and the aspects within the planets. For example, a person that has the North Node in the 5th house in Leo and the South Node in Aquarius in 11th house would have to deal with learning how to express his own creativity beyond a group, and understand how to get connected with his own individuality. Why? Because a North Node in Leo in the 5th house represents the full expression of the Self. People with these Nodes often have difficulties with the fifth chakra (throat, thyroid) that represents the expression of creativity on a social level. The difficulties encountered in the transition and in the rebalancing of these two energies can be manifested through some events or a disease that affects the organs that best express the conflict itself.
The Karmic laws claim that nothing happens by chance, but we are immersed in a clutter of situations that were created with our past actions. This means that we cannot talk about misfortune, but only about what we can create, and every new incarnation represents an opportunity to grow spiritually.
The individual karmic path consists in events and predetermined persons (from our souls between one incarnation to the other) that have been part of previous lives. In this case it would be necessary to understand and compensate for the debt, as well as understand the current lesson. Astrologically, they arise as aspects of difficult quadrature, oppositions, or conjunctions (e.g. Saturn or Moon node in conjunction with the Sun).
Within our lifetime we intercept new events which represent the purpose of our Soul, and they give us the opportunity to grow and evolve. They are the result of past positive actions that come to us as gifts, because there is not only a negative Karma of evidence and obstacles, but also a Dharma. In this sense, we can say that Karma is a debt to pay and Dharma is a debt we have to cash in, and astrologically Dharma's gifts appear in the form of the trine in a natal chart.
All the easy situations that happen to us and flow serenely into our lives are represented by the Dharma. Our talents and abilities, our constructive and serene relationships, the enlightened couple, the abundance .. is Dharma. And one very important part of the Dharma is a correct understanding of karma.
Once we understand that we will receive the fruits of our actions, then we take care to take actions that will give us the results we want. That is the lesson, the Dharma about karma.Everything we can not complete and remain in the shade becomes a debt, an experience to repeat as long as we have not been aware of it and then transformed. Dharma is all about finding your own passion — something that drives you, something that you are good at, and something that is fulfilling.
The comprehension of these two complementary concepts is the keystone for the building of a strong foundation of knowledge, which will facilitate the enduring of difficult situations in our existence. Pain and suffering seems to manifest a Dharmic purpose as well as the Karmic system of rewarding cause and effect.
Through human suffering lie the hard lessons or re-directive guidance that sows the seeds of love.
